Your SmartLipo Procedure Experience

To perform SmartLipo, Dr. Tirgari will first apply a local anesthetic to the treatment area. Once the area is numb, your surgeon will make a small incision and insert a cannula with a laser fiber inside, which is then placed just below the skin. This is the subcutaneous layer of the skin and this is where the fat is stored. At this point, Dr. Tirgari will move the cannula back and forth under your skin, loosening the fat while a small, red light emitted by the laser guides Dr. Tirgar’s movements. The laser also assists in the skin tightening effect post-surgery.

Once the laser fiber makes contact with the fat cells, they swell and eventually burst into fatty oil. This fatty liquid can then be easily suctioned out of the body via the same cannula or suctioning device. Although minimal fatty oil may remain behind, this liquid fat will be eliminated post-surgery by your body’s natural detoxification system which eventually excretes it through the liver. The laser energy also helps to encourage collagen production, which is responsible for maintaining a youthful sense of firmness in the area where liposuction was performed.

Since you will not be under general anesthesia, you will just be given some time to rest after the procedure, during which time we will monitor you closely. After that, you will be given instructions about the home care regimen that you need to perform as well as the schedule for your follow-up visits with our surgeon. It is best to arrange for a driver after surgery as you may be drowsy and numb in certain areas.
